The Junior Terriers Ice Center welcomed a much needed facelift during the summer of 2009. Many
families spend a lot of time in our facility. Besides providing
a top notch hockey program, we intend to insure that our players
have a first class rink to play in as well as a safe, clean, comfortable
atmosphere for the parents and families to enjoy.
Improvements started in the spring. The ice was melted and the
sand bed was re-graded in order to improve the ice quality. The
rink was then flooded and painted with the trademark Terrier Logo
at center ice facing the stands. Simultaneously, the beams in the
ceiling were painted as well as the entire interior of the building
including the locker rooms, foyer, proshop, gym, and bathrooms.
Next, a “Low E” ceiling was installed and the walls
insulated in order to improve the rink’s energy efficiency
affording improved ice quality. Another bonus to the installation
of this new ceiling is that the rink appears brighter and cleaner.
Additionally, a brand new state of the art sound system was installed
for use at all Terrier home games. We really want to provide the
kids with an NHL like atmosphere while they play their home games.
The new system will allow us to announce starting line ups, goals,
assists, and penalties as well as play music between periods and
during intermissions. This should also make for a great home ice
advantage.
Recently, a brand new dehumidification system was installed in
the arena to help maintain the ice and temperature of the facility.
Because the rink was so wet in the summer months it ruined the ice
and made viewing on-ice events difficult at best. Dehumidification
was a much needed and welcome improvement within the facility.
Both the full service pro shop and snack bar are under new management.
The snack bar with its twin 50 inch plasma TVs promises to serve
as an area for families to relax and enjoy. Furthermore, the 3500
square foot gym which will not only be the location for off ice
training for the Boston Jr. Terriers but also offer a variety of
training “not just for hockey players” has been painted
and under new management.
Finally, a hospitality suite was created for the Terrier players
and parents. The room boasts a 50 inch plasma TV, along with a sofa
and loveseats. There is also an adjoining room equipped with a desk
area for siblings to do homework while they wait for their brother
or sister to skate. Complimentary coffee will be provided for all
Terrier parents at each home game. “It all goes back to making
the Boston Jr. Terriers Arena a welcoming place for not only our
Terriers players but also their families. We are excited about this
room and hope it provides a place that parents and players can meet
and be very comfortable anytime they are at the facility”
Welcome to the “HOME” of the Boston Jr. Terriers!!
