Mike is the newest addition to the staff after spending the past eight years in the corporate insurance world where he helped develop new business accounts for a large property & casualty insurance agency outside Philadelphia. Prior to that, he was an enterprise account manager in Silicon Valley covering clients like Cisco Systems, PeopleSoft, Bank of America, and The Gap for EMC Corporation and VERITAS Software. His vast business experience and success in the sales management and business insurance/risk management industries make him an ideal fit to manage the myriad day-to-day operations of our business.
A Dorchester native, Mike spent his youth playing every sport but hockey was always his passion and it took over his focus as a student at Don Bosco High School in Boston where he was a team captain as a senior. He went to play at the New Preparatory School in Cambridge as well as with the North Iowa Huskies in the U.S.H.L. before walking on at Northeastern University in 1987-88. He was named to the Auld Lang Syne All-Tournament team as a Sophomore, earned the team Unsung Hero Award as a junior, and was elected Assistant Captain by his Husky teammates in his senior season.
After Northeastern, Mike was invited to the Boston Bruins Rookie Camp which helped him land his first professional contract with the Bruins’ minor league affiliate, Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League. He earned the team’s Most Improved Player Award that season. The following two seasons, he played for the Memphis RiverKings of the Central Hockey League where he was a two-time Captain and voted Best Defenseman in 1994. He suffered a career ending shoulder injury following that season and retired from playing that summer.
In his post playing days, Mike spent much of his time coaching youth hockey with the South Shore Dynamos and New England College Development League as well as one season coaching at Catholic Memorial High School with Kevin O’Sullivan and Bill Hanson helping that team win one of CM’s many Massachusetts High School Super 8 Championships.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Northeastern University and a Diploma in Risk Management & Insurance from the Peter J. Tobin School of Business at St. John’s University in New York. He is also licensed in Property & Casualty Insurance in the state of New Jersey. He and his wife Kristina have three children, Jack, Mikey, and Sarah and will reside in the South Shore area this summer. |
