REVIEW: Weekend
of January 23rd-24th
THE 96 Elite Terriers dominated in a 6-2 victory of Westchester.
The Terriers built a 4-0 lead after the first period and never let
up from there. The team is really starting to move the puck well
and win all the small battles which makes for a successful team.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 16th-January 17th
With a scheduling quirk that had the 96 team against the Bandits
three games in a row coach Smith was a little edgy "It is difficult
to beat a team three times in a row. We will just have to take it
one game at a time". The Terriers did just that as they took
all six points with three very sound games. The Terriers turned
in three great team efforts against a very tough Bandits team that
fought tooth and nail each game.
REVIEW: Weekend
of December 12th-13th
The 96 Elite team played their most complete game of the season
on Sunday coming away with a 5-1 victory over the Minutemen Flames.
After a great week of practice the boys played a solid physical
45 minute game on Sunday.
REVIEW: Weekend
of November 21st-22nd
After an awful effort on Saturday in a 6-0 loss to Top Gun in Salem
NH. the 96 Elite team was at a crossroads. In what Coach Smith called
the "most important game of the year" the team prevailed
4-3 against a big strong Middlesex Islanders team. "We have
some injuries to key players. However our effort level on Saturday
was non existent which is my fault. The kids responded beautifully
on Sunday and need to remember the work ethic they brought to the
table which enabled them to be successful."
REVIEW: Weekend
of November 14th-15th
The 96 team put together a forty five minute game and beat the Boston
Jr. Eagles 6-1 on Sunday at the Dog Pound. It was an all around
team effort especially considering the team is without three top
players because of injury. Next up for our boys is a date with the
still undefeated Top Gun and the always tough Middlesex Islanders.
REVIEW: Weekend
of November 7th-8th
The 96 Elite team tied the undefeated Top Gun team 2-2 at the Dog
Pound on Sunday. The Terriers who are missing key players because
of injury showed a lot of charcter in this tilt. Max Barr was outstanding
in net and it was a great overall team effort.
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 24th-25th
The 96 Elite team lost 4-2 to the first place Providence Capitals
on Saturday. The Terriers spotted the Caps a three goal lead and
then came roaring back to make it 3-2 only to fall 4-2. Coach Smith
had this to say after the game " you can't get down three goals
and give up two shorthanded goals to a good team like the Caps you
just beat yourself. Five on five I thought we carried the play but
you can't make that many mistakes against a good team."
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 17th-18th
The 96 Elite squad excated revenge of an earlier beating at the
hands of the Minutemen Flames with a dominating 5-2 Victory at the
Dog Pound on Saturday. The team dominated from start to finish with
tenacious forchecking and an all around strong performance. On Sunday
the team traveled to beautiful downtown Bridgewater and skated to
there second 0-0 tie this season. While the team played well and
dominated most of the game coach Smith and Donato agreed the boys
have to work harder to create traffic in front of the net and score
some ugly goals.
It has been announced that the team will be participating in the
Toronto Marlies Holiday Classic December 26-30 in Toronto Ontario.
The tournament will feature the best 96 teams in North America.
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 9th-11th
The 96 Elite team played some of he best competition in North America
this past weekend in the prestigious Rochester Invitational Tournament.
The team started with a well played 0-0 tie vs the Pittsburgh Jr.
Pens. Drew Perry was outstanding in net for the team. On Saturday
morning the team blew out the New Hampshire Monarchs 11-2 with the
highlight of the game being an end to end Patrick Horrocks rush
that finished with a wicked snapper under the crossbar for a goal.
Saturday night the Terriers dominated a strong York Simcoe team
but came up short 3-1. On Sunday morning the boys got a workmanlike
victory 4-3 over the South Central Ontario Coyotes and a great game
in net by Max Barr. Later in the day the Terriers fell to the Providence
Capitals 2-0. Coach Smith had this to say "The boys really
came together this weekend. You could see our effort level rise
and our overall game improve from playing top of the line competition.
Hopefully this carries over to the regular season".
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 2nd-4th
After a grueling week of practice the 96 team had their best showing
of the season beating a very good South Shore Kings team 6-1. The
96 team will now travel to the Rochester Invitational next weekend
to play some of the best teams in North America.
REVIEW: Weekend
of September 18th-20th
Tyson Araujo took a beautiful feed from Patrick Horrocks and scored
a breakaway goal with 2 second left in the game to give the Terriers
a hard fought 3-2 victory over a very strong Islanders team. The
Terriers who trailed all game got two goals from Araujo and one
from Richie Cardillo in the win. Goalies Max Barr and Drew Perry
were outstanding net for the Terriers. |
