REVIEW: Weekend
of March 13th-14th
Another great week for the 98's - the team earned three more points
to wrap up the season.
During their game against the Minuteman Flames on Thursday, the
team played well. The Terriers went ahead early in the first period
with a goal by Garrett Silvia, assisted by Geoff Skelly and Ian
Peterson, followed quickly by an Aidan McLaughlin goal, assisted
by defenseman Connor Severino - making it 2 to 1. Tyler Whalon (D)
gets credit for the third Terrier goal late in the 2nd period. The
Flames ended up tying it up in the third 3 -3, but each team earned
one point for the game.
On Saturday, against the Breakers and the final game of their season,
the Dogs came out with excitement and determination - looking forward
to the playoffs. The first goal was scored by Christian Connors,
assisted by defenseman, Jack Edgar. The second period was exciting
with three more goals....Pat McLoughlin, Connors and Cam Stacey
scored in that period and were assisted by Ian Peterson, Garrett
Silvia, Geoff Skelly, Noah Paige and Stacey, making the score 4
to 2. Late in the game, the Terriers final goal was knocked in an
open net by Aidan McLaughlin. Final Score, Terriers 5 - Bay State
Breakers 2.
Final thoughts as we end the regular season: Coming together is
a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
REVIEW: Week
of March 7th
Two, four, six - Great! -- The 98 AAA Terriers earned six points
this week - winning all of their games in exciting fashion! On Wednesday
against the Bay State Breakers, the Terriers had a slow start. The
Breakers went ahead in the first, but Cameron Stacey tied it up
in the second with an unassisted goal. It was a rough battle until
late in the third when Cole Joslin scored with 1.11 to play, assisted
by Christian Connors. Adding an extra player to the surface, the
Breakers left an open net and Matt MacDonald was able to score the
Terriers third goal. Final score 3 -1 Terriers.
On Saturday, Bryan O'Donnell and Peter Costa each had a pair of
goals against Top Gun. O'Donnell, unassisted, scored the first Terrier
goal, but Top Gun quickly tied the score. In the second period,
the combination of Cameron Stacey from Geoff Skelly opened up the
score. O'Donnell's other goal was assisted by Aidan McLaughlin,
as was Costa's. Defenseman, Tyler Whalon assisted on the second
Costa goal. Final score 5 - 1 Terriers.
During Sunday's game, the team played great all around - the red
and white line played well and the defense was up for the challenge
of the day. Terriers came away with a win over the Boston Little
Rangers. Scoring the first Terrier goal was Cameron Stacey, assisted
by Jack Edgar and Pat McLoughlin. Goalie Tyler Martin was tremendous
between the pipes and saw many shots from the Rangers. Bryan O'Donnell
scored the next goal assisted by Aidan McLaughlin and Peter Costa.
The score remained tied 2 -2 until the third period when McLoughlin
put in goal number 3, assisted again by Edgar and Stacey. The final
unassisted goal was scored by Aidan McLaughlin making the score
4 -2 over the Rangers.
Terriers will face the Minuteman Flames on Thursday.
REVIEW: Weekend
of February 27th-28th
The 98AAA Pee Wees split the weekend with one in the win column
and one in the loss. After almost a two week break, the Dogs showed
that playing hockey is like riding a bike....you don't forget how
to do it. The Terriers looked strong against the Bridgewater Bandits
and came away with an 8 - 3 win. Starting off the day was an unassisted
goal by Cameron Stacey, followed by a quick one from Christian Connors,
assisted by Peter Costa. Other players with unassisted goals were
Bryan O'Donnell, Cole Joslin (2) and Aidan McLaughlin. Joslin had
a hat trick during the game off a Garrett Silvia pass and the other
tally came from Silvia/Stacey combination.
On Sunday, the Little Rangers out skated the Terriers. Cole Joslin
had an unassisted goal to put the Terriers on the board, and the
combination of Geoff Skelly to Cameron Stacey put the boys in a
4 -2 game. After that the Rangers really came alive and put five
more in net. Joslin scored the Terriers final goal off a pass from
Aidan McLaughlin. A few breakdowns on both defense and offense,
caused the team to fall victim to a 9 - 3 loss. On a positive note,
the Terrier penalties are few and far between; disciplined hockey
is key, especially at this level.
The Terriers will meet the Breakers in Rockland on Wednesday night.
REVIEW: Weekend
of February 6th-7th
The drive to and from the rink was longer than actual playing time,
but the Terriers came away victorious and earned another two points
this weekend, beating Top Gun by a score of 13 - 2.
Christian Connors, Pat McLoughlin (one unassisted) and Garrett
Silvia each scored two goals, Bryan O'Donnell had three assists,
Cole Joslin, Pat McLoughlin, Cam Stacey and Tyler Whalon each had
two assists. The team has come a long way from eighth place and
continue to play solid. Tyler Martin, coming back from an injury,
showed no sign of pain - as he was strong throughout the game. Other
goals during the match were scored by Peter Costa, Joslin (unassisted),
Noah Paige (unassisted), Matt McDonald, Aidan McLaughlin, Geoff
Skelly and Stacey. Given credit for other assists are: Connors and
Skelly.
The Terriers have a few weeks of practice before their next game
against the Bridgewater Bandits.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 30th-31st
After a disheartening 5 -3 loss to the Providence Blues on Thursday,
the Terriers faced the Providence Capitals with a little more bark
in their bite! The team won on Sunday by a score of 6 - 4. Cole
Joslin started things off early in the first period with an unassisted
goal, followed quickly by a Christian Connors score, assisted by
Tyler Whalon. Peter Costa netted the third goal with the assistance
of Aidan McLaughlin. The Capitals scored two unanswered points in
the 2nd period, but the Terriers bounced back with two more quick
ones scored by Garrett Silvia and McLaughlin. Points earned for
assists on those goals were given to Connors, Joslin, Costa and
Geoff Skelly. To wrap up the game, McLaughlin scored the final Terrier
goal with assistance from teammate Bryan O'Donnell. Also, kudos
to goalie Tyler Martin who had a nice game between the pipes.
A week of practice for the Terriers and a double shot of hockey
against Top Gun and the Minuteman Flames next weekend.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 23rd-24th
Another big weekend for the 98 PeeWees! The Terriers earned another
four points this weekend in two exciting games on their home ice.
“Against the Capitals, all the kids played well, from the
net – out. Tyler Martin saw and saved many shots, the defense
played tough and the offense passed and cycled the puck very well
– this was a big win for us”, the coach said. Cameron
Stacey had a pair of goals, one assisted by Matt MacDonald and other
by Bryan O’Donnell. The other score was earned by Geoff Skelly
– from the combination passing of Pat McLoughlin and Noah
Paige. Final score Boston Jr. Terriers 3 – Providence Capitals
2.
During Sunday’s game against the Bridgewater Bandits, the
dogs were put to the test. The Bandits played tough and it seemed
to be anybody’s game. Ian Peterson started it off for the
puppies with an unassisted goal, followed by a Garrett Silvia goal.
Cole Joslin earned the assist on the Silvia goal. Then our goalie
Tyler Martin robbed them of a goal during a penalty shot followed
by our defenseman Noah Paige scoring on a penalty shot at the other
end. At this point, the game turned around. The combination of Joslin
to Silvia put the fourth goal in the net, making the score 4 –
3. It was a hard fought game with many penalties on both sides,
but the Terriers were able to come back with three more goals. Noah
Paige put in number five, assisted by Peterson and Geoff Skelly.
And the final two goals were scored by Aidan McLaughlin, both assisted
by Christian Connors. Final score Terriers 7 – Bandits 4.
On Thursday the team will face the Providence Blues in a make up
game, followed by another game against the Capitals on Saturday.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 16th-17th
You win some, you lose some...the Terriers split the weekend with
one win and one loss.
During Saturday's important game against the Minuteman Flames, the
Terriers were victorious and came away with a 4 - 1 score. Cole
Joslin started it off quickly, assisted by Garrett Silvia. That
goal was followed by an open netter by Geoff Skelly. The team came
to play, knowing that a win would move them up in the standings.
Peter Costa, assisted by Skelly and Pat McLoughlin, put in goal
number three and combination of Aidan McLaughlin to Silvia wrapped
up the 4 - 1 win.
The Springfield Pics played tough and beat the Red and White on
Sunday, by a score of 4 -2. The kids worked hard, but some silly
penalties may have cost them this one. Garrett Silvia scored off
a pass from Aidan McLaughlin, as well as Bryan O'Donnell, assisted
by Noah Paige and Christian Connors.
The Terriers will play the Capitals in a makeup game on 1/23 and
the Bandits on 1/24 - both at the Dog Pound.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 9th-January 10th
Coach D is quoted as saying "A great team effort - soup
to nuts - a BIG team win!" Knowing that a win would put them
tied for fourth in the division the kids came with their game faces
on, ready to play. Connor Severino (D) started it off quickly with
his first goal of the season, assisted by Cameron Stacey and Cole
Joslin. A goal scored by Christian Connors from a Noah Paige pass,
followed by Pat McLoughlins goal from Geoff Skelly gave the fans
something to cheer about. The Little Rangers put them to the test
and continued to tie the score in a back and forth game. Then, the
combination of Cole Joslin from Jack Edgar twice made the score
5 - 4. Connors also receives credit on an assist on the fifth goal.
Finally with two minutes to play, the LIttle Rangers pulled their
goalie and Stacey rounded off the tally with an open netter. Final
score Boston Jr. Terriers 6 - Boston Little Rangers 4.
Next weekend the Red and White travel to Marlborough to battle
the Flames and then back home against the Springfield Pics.
REVIEW: Weekend
of January 2nd-January 3rd
In the first game of 2010, the 98 Terriers beat the Bandits
by a score of 5 - 2. Coming off a number of exciting games in the
holiday tournament, the team came out strong and the defense really
stepped up. Noah Paige (D) had 2 goals, one assisted by Geoff Skelly
and the other by Aidan McLaughlin. Skelly also assisted on a Cameron
Stacey goal, while McLaughlin sent Cole Joslin in for a point. The
combination Pat McLoughlin to Peter Costa rounded out the 5 goal
tally.
Game two of the weekend against the first place NECDL Classics
was unfortunely not one of the Terriers best games. The Classics
won by six, with the final score being 8 - 2. Tyler Whalon scored
both of the Terrier goals and Peter Costa assisted on each. The
puppies have a week of practice and skills before they take on the
Boston Little Rangers on Sunday in Canton.
REVIEW: Holiday
Tournament
The 98 PeeWee Team won two games and tied two games, but
the point system did not work in their favor. The 98 Dogs missed
being in the finals by a 1/2 point. Tyler Whalon had an exceptionally
good series with a hat trick during one game, plus two other goals
and assists in other games. The kids all played well and hope to
continue their winning streak into the new year. The coaches are
looking forward to the second half of the season.
REVIEW: Weekend
of December 26th-December 27th
Another huge weekend for the Red and White. The 98 AAAs earned
another four points and moved up in the standings after two big
wins this weekend.
In the first game against the Providence Blues, the Terriers,
with their new sticks, gloves and Terrier wear from Santa, came
home with a 6 - 1 win. Cole Joslin had a great game with two goals
and two assists. Other goal scorers were Garrett Silvia from a Joslin
pass, Cam Stacey from Pat McLoughlin, Aidan McLaughlin, assisted
by Silvia/Joslin and Pat McLoughlin tipped in a slap shot from Tyler
Whalon to score the final goal. Whalon also assisted on the first
goal of the game. Tyler Martin played strong in net and the coaching
staff is thrilled with the way this team has pulled together in
the past few weeks.
On Sunday against the Springfield Pics, the Terriers showed that
if you are in the right position, great things happen. The team
is cycling the puck well, passing in front and fighting each puck
battle. A host of teammates scored against the Pics: Garrett Silvia,
Cole Joslin, Cam Stacey, Bryan O'Donnell and Geoff Skelly.
Assists were earned by Joslin, Aidan McLaughlin, Silvia, Skelly,
Peter Costa, Noah Paige, Stacey and Tyler Whalon. In an exciting,
chippy game - Tyler Martin was large between the pipes, made many
saves and blocked a penalty shot in the third. The final goal was
shot into an open net by Aidan McLaughlin - making the final score
6 - 3 Terriers!
This week the Terriers will play in the 98 Tournament at the Dog
Pound and the first two games of 2010 will be against the Bandits
and the NECDL Classics.
REVIEW: Weekend
of December 19th-December 20th
The 98 AAA Pee Wees played the first place NECDL Classics tough
through two periods, but were unable to hold them off in the third.
Tied 5 - 5 in the second, in a back & forth, hard fought battle,
the Classics came away with the 9 - 5 win. Aidan McLaughlin had
a hat trick and teammates Geoff Skelly and Garrett Silvia also earned
points. All the players worked extremely hard and should be proud
of themselves. The Terriers second game of the weekend against the
Blues was cancelled due to the storm. SEASONS GREETINGS to all,
from the 98 AAA Terrier Family.

and a couple of penalties cost the Terriers. Garrett Silvia made
the pass to Aidan McLaughlin, who scored the lone Terrier goal.
Next weekend, the Terriers will face the Blues and Top Gun.
