REVIEW: Weekend
of December 5th-December 6th
Coach Redfearn 99 AAA team is starting to play some of its best
hockey of the season. On Saturday the team trounced the Bridgewater
Bandits and then on Sunday lost a heart breaking game to league
power the Little Rangers 4-2. Sunday showed how far the team has
come when they played stride for stride with the Rangers while missing
some key players. The rest of the season looks very bright for our
boys in Red and White.
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 31st-November 1st
Trick or Treat? Which would it be for the enigmatic 99 Terriers.
The boys entered the locker room bouncing from a sugar romp through
their home towns the night before. Some looked like they just got
in their last house call. As they burst out of the locker room DJ
Larry was spinning WHO LET THE DOGS OUT. There was barking and drooling
during the crisp warm up and the coaching staff was confident the
dogs were ready. The Providence Blues came out strong drawing first
blood on a nifty give and go. But, alas all good things for them
were about to come to an end. Thirty seconds later Sean "The
Big Man" Healy took a quick outlet pass from James "Scooter
" Holland,,, it looked like Orr vs the Blues in the 70's, as
the big guy took it coast to coast. 1-1. The teams battled back
and forth but 5 minutes later Austin "From Boston" Lee
pulled an Ovechkin like move served with a beautiful feed from Nick
"The Quick" Johnson and Scoots Holland. The feeding frenzy
had started. Next up "Wide Stride" Colburn spun two defenders
on a sweet dish from Stephen "The Speed Demon" Christakis.
The Quick just out of the sin bin was to follow on an incredible
pass from Jack "The Bull" Turner. The Providence goaltender
stopped 15 of the 19 first period shots but the dogs were on the
meat wagon with an insatiable appetite for rubber biscuit.
The second period brought more of the same for the weary Blues,
goals from Aussie, Wide Stride, and The Big man with assists from
Teddy "Steady" Scier, Scoots Holland, and Matty "The
PITBULL" Macpherson just about sealed the deal. But no! The
Providence boys would not go away quietly working and working back
to a 7-4 game as the horn sounded the end of the second.
Coach Healy gave the boys the inspiration for the third something
about food for the week or something like that.
In the third, the boys sealed the deal with 4 more goals from
Aussie, Wide Stride, Speed Demon, and The Quick on assists from
The Quick, Preston "Hammertime" Grundy, Jack "Top
Shelf" Kerwin, Joey "Legs" Slavik and Jarret "The
Rabbit" Bovarnik. What a team game/win. So here's how I figure,,,
Team Preparation to date $ 6170.00,,,43 shots on net today $ 860.00.
Post Halloween Sugar Rush "Priceless". Great Game Dogs!!!!
REVIEW: Weekend
of October 17th-18th
The scene was set The NECDL CLassics were back to revenge the prior
loss to the Bad Boys of the 99 EHF division, The Eclectic 99 Terriers.
This team could either be captured at home on Sons of Anarchy or
seen visiting the Harvard Campus for an early visit. The Terriers
started out flat as a fresh Matty Smith crew cut, but would not
be denied in the first. Jack "Top Shelf" Kerwin ripped
in a perfect set-up by Austin "From Boston" Lee making
it a close period with the team down 2-1.
The second period started like a week old Smitty cut but finally
got to the game plan the brain trust was selling. Nick "The
Quick" Johnson picked up a loose puck in the right slot and
delivered a rocket to beat the tough CDL tender. With just 11 seconds
left in the 2nd,,, Sean "The Big Man" Healy took a perfect
feed from Kevin "Mario" MacDonald bursting down the ice
for our second rubber biscuit of the period. Whew! 5-3 CDL still
in the lead.
The direction from the bench for the third was specific and clearly
understood by the team, but unfortunately can't be posted here.
With about 7 minutes into the period Drew,,, "The Snake"
Hickey took a perfect feed from Colby "Beans" Serpa bringing
it to 5-4. A line change later the boys turned the prettiest play
of the season to date. Bryan "Wide Stride" Colburn was
set-up like a Made Man in the Sopranos by Silky Mcelaney and Mario
MacDonald. WOW just like we practiced! The GM of CDL called the
bench and their brain trust thought a good time for a time out.
The Terrier boys wanted no part of a time out and were back to the
action. Two more quick scores within 7 seconds of each other cemented
the hard work of the third for the Terrier Dogs
The sixth score came on a great passing play from Beans Serpa to
Jack "The Bull" Turner to Austin "From Boston"
Lee who netted the tying goal 6-6. With another quick change came
the 7th and final goal to clinch,,,, in a picture perfect give and
go from Silky to Wide Stride for the game WINNER!!! Terriers 7 NECDL

REVIEW: Weekend
of October 9th-11th
It was a typical fall Columbus day, bright blue skies, blustery
wind and Terrier Red leaves on the ride to the home of the powerful
CDL Classics. The rink was packed to capacity when the 99 Terriers
hit the ice. Tunes blared some Aerosmith while the boys zipped thru
their perfect warm-up. We new it was going to be a great game!
Right from the start the Terriers pressed the unsuspecting Classics.
The first score came from an unbelievable set up by Jack "
The Bull" Turner and Teddy "Silky" Mcelaney with
Austin " From Boston" Lee finding a fraction of space
to the 5 hole. Matty "Pitbull" MacPherson delivered his
patented backhanded roof...his second in the last two games from
"Silky" Mcelaney. Stephen
"Speed Demon" Christakis had a Marc Savard snipe on the
short side on a tape to tape pass from "Big Man" Sean
Healy. The final tally came from Nick "The Quick" Johnson
on a carom by "Speed Demon" Christakis. |
